sad endings and new beginnings....

Almost two years ago, I started a blog. At the time, I was fifteen-almost sixteen. I had discovered music, had my dreams of being a high school athlete slashed, and started to really view art as a way of life. I was angry and confused and, most of all, lost. I didn't know who I wanted to be. I shunned being the same, although in reality, I kind of was the same as everyone else. I chose the name "donewithconformity" because I was done of being like them. It was grating and harsh and I liked it.

In these one and a half years, I can honestly say that my life has changed so much. I moved across town, got a job, got rejected, asked a boy to prom, traveled to Europe, made new friends, grew apart from old friends, got my permit, went to NYC, picked up a camera, applied to college, got accepted to college, got a German exchange student, met a Brit, got in a car crash, dyed my hair, lived, lost and laughed. I discovered the importance of music and art. Most of all, I learned the true meaning of conformity, and realized that it really isn't a bad thing. We all conform to some degree, and break the norm in other ways. Some are meant to live more in the rules of society than others, and I've made my peace with that. I've never been able to fit into that "norm," and now I'm okay with that. I like being different, seeing things differently, and being blessed with a creative soul. I'm an artist now; it's no longer just a hobby, but a way of life.

Donewithconformity helped me realize all of this, and as cheesy as it sounds, it helped me grow. When I look at earlier posts, I have to smile nostalgically, because I sound so little. I was just figuring out things that I know for sure, like that I'll never understand math and music makes me create. Connecting with other people reminded me, in dark days, that there was and is other people who think like me.

But right now, my blog doesn't fit quite right-like an itchy sweater, almost, rubbing and chafing uncomfortably. I've, quite simply, outgrown it. And no matter how much I stretch it, it's not going to fit again. And so I regret to say that this will be my last post.

here, anyways.

I've decided to start a new blog, a fresh start. It's a little bit risky, as I've built up a nice little following here, but I have a really, really good feeling about this, I don't know why. It just seems right. My new blog is going to be called a thousand million words. This is based on the saying, "A picture's worth a thousand words;" so hopefully my blog will have millions of pictures and stories and tales! I'll be continuing the blogger project and beautiful bedrooms over there as well, but I really want to focus more on photography, fashion, and art in a different way than I have in the past.

Thank you so SO much to everyone who followed, commented, or visited me in my blog's time. It seriously meant so much to me-you have NO idea. Building up such a network of friends has been incredible, and I hope to see you at my new home :)

Hey guys! So, almost three weeks (!!!) ago, I went to New York City for a weekend. It's funny that I've never been, especially seeing that I only live about five hours via car away, for longer than a day. But I digress.

New York is AMAZING. There is always something going on no matter what time of the day, something my cute little hometown is severly lacking. I loved the buildings, the people, the shops, the food.....especially the shopping and food. I originally went to NYC to see some schools, but it turned into only "offically" seeing one, which I already know I'm accepted to yayayaya! so anyways, stayed tuned for photo diary #2, which is Sunday's portion of the trip :)

the new (yet nameless) blog feature

hey guys! so it's sunday night, and after struggling for three hours to write a paper (and instead shoving my face with goldfish, walking around my kitchen, and making strange whimpering noises), I decided that the best incentive to finish it would be to introduce my new feature. So now the paper's done and onto the good stuff!

For some reason, I find bedrooms fascinating. I honestly couldn't tell you why, except that each bedroom is completely unique, almost like a fingerprint. Your room is kind of like a window to your soul, you know? It's all of your stuff, your favorite possessions, pictures, bands, etc. You can learn more about someone with three minutes in their bedroom than three months of knowing them.

So, now that I've waxed poetically about my slightly creepy obsession with bedrooms and habitats in general, I'm introducing my (currently nameless) Sunday feature. Here's the first installment!

I thought that these pictures were particularly stunning. I love the colors, and how Ellie chose to take close up pictures. Its almost enticing,because you want to see the background in closer detail, you know?(plus florence and the machine is awesomeee) anyways, a huuuugggeeee thanks to Ellie, if you guys want to check her out she resides at Observations Through the Looking Glass.

so here are some lovely little shots that I took today while in the city.....I actually took a disposable with me, so I'm eager to see how those pics came out.

This weekend's relatively slow, I think I'll finish up some of my college apps and work on the blogger project/photo editing/catching up on blog reading. I'm also planning on starting a series of photographs based on florence and the machine, simply because her songs evoke such strong images that I'm compelled to create them and try to explain to the world what I see. ah so much to do in so little time, huh? anyways, thanks so much to seek the sleek to following :) hope you all are having a great weekend!

these were a few pics I took a week or so ago...had a boring sunday and decided that dumping all the books on my bed with some lights draped around me sounded fun. remember this coat? it was the one I chattered excitedly about here. well here ya go, some pictures of it so you can soak in its awesomeness. also my face, which I don't believe is normally featured here. I love this color, partially because it reminds me of Lindsey's coat from freaks and geeks, and partially because i have green eyes and nothing green. Now all I need are some high waisted jean shorts, the uo granpa cardigan I've been lusting over, and a festival to go to. ohh yeah baby.*

alrighty then! just a super quick outfit post cause I haven't done one in FOREVER, like my room? my tripod's currently lopsided, not sure why...just know that I spent like seven minutes trying to fix it before i realized part of it was missing -___- this sweater's super eighties and slightly itchy, you know what i mean? one of those sweaters that you squirm a little but its not a full on scratch fest. These jeans are my favorite everr too, zara's jeans are wicked comfy.

a few quick notes:

I am trying to slowly bring back the blogger project.....I totally told someone I was bringing it back last week, but I wasn't happy with what I created and time got away from me majorly. I am trying to honor all comment requests next, so sorry if you requested one and I haven't gotten there yet :(
look! I ombred my hair! Isn't it lovely? It's a bit subtle, but my hairdresser (who was terribly impressed that I did it myself) said it will become more prominent as I grow it out.

these are some pictures from the Museam of Fine Arrts in Boston-my class went on a field trip on Wed. Our tour guide was legit insaneeeee, (we made fun of her so much) but I loved wandering around the comtemporaries. Its so strange how tired you are after such a trip-I felt so many emotions in two hours that I was ready for a nap! I want to go back though, and wander aimlessly with a notebook instead of a camera.

I can't believe I've been gone for so long. Time is seriously passing me by, what with work, school, mounds of homework, and trying to decide where I want to go to college(university.) It's a tough choice and involves a lot of thought! my dream school is nyu though :D

Not much has happened, except for I LOVE SENIOR YEAR. I can seriously do the craziest things and students in the halls part for you like the red sea. The other day, my friend and I ran up an empty flight of stairs pretending to be dinosaurs. Why? Cause we can! The only other biggest thing that happened was that same friend-M- and I collaborated on a painting of Mother Theresa that hung up in the auditorium for school mass and I was so excited :) Everytime i walked by it I was like sodiurpqwoeijs.,fkj i did that!

This weekend should be great; I'm not working until Tuesday, so I'm planning on relaxing, watching bridesmaids (again), possibly thrifting, and eating German food that K is going to make us!

today I met an amazing bunch of people who come from all over the world. I'm so lucky to have k living with me and to be able to see the world through her eyes. all i want to do now is just leave and go see it all. wahhhh this one's weird and awesome simultaneously

whooaaa long time no post.

anyways, hurricane (or maybe tropical storm? no se) Irene blew into my area and knocked out the power for

74 HOURS.

so i just got power back late wed night....it was kind of crazy seeing that the damage wasn't that bad-we had a tree limb go down and our screen door's bottom hinges broke, some had trees go down, but others you could hardly tell there had been a storm-and my town's thinking of switching electrical companies. I got a little sick of my family, but hey! when given lemons you make lemonade. (in the dark)

yesterday was the first day of school for my brother and sister, and orientation for me.....I personally got so excited that it was sept. 1, so I could pretend that i was off to Hogwarts instead of High school, on the Hogwarts express instead of the back of my friend's honda civic.

I got my sched and homeroom and all that jazz- I'm really excited for my classes. As a senior I got some really cool choices and I ended up withforensics, environmental science, art, psych, english, history, and a really cool religion class that connects art with God. However, my AP work is rediculous, and I'm currently slowly drowning in it ;( take a lesson from me boys and girls and DON'T PROCRASTINATE.

yeah, you know what time it is....

these two pics are of Mia and Thom, from all the toppings and everyone's celebrity, respectively. I loveeee the pictures Mia has on her blog, especially this one-I'm not sure why, but they're a little whimsical and really cool. I'm happy with this one of Thom, because I did my first black and white watercolor from a color photograph. His blog is full of great features-I'd recommend checking out-and following-these two lovelies!

I'm sad to say that this will probably be the last blogger project for a while-for one thing, I need more watercolor paper, and I'm going back to school in a week or so. I'll still take requests, but I don't know how long it will be until they're actually made. It will all depend how busy I find myself in the coming weeks, what with homework, college search stuff('cause I have to, oh you know, decide what I want to do with the rest of my life. no biggie), SAT prep, work, and so on, and so forth. We'll see.....

Anyways, K, my family's exchange student, arrived on Monday! arrrgh it's been a lot of fun so far. She brought us German candy (which I've been unashamedly inhaling) and I got a Heidelburg T Shirt (city nearby her home) and a CD of German music, which is pretty good. We

took her to the beach, the supermarket and made chocolate chip cookies........all around fun! I'v e been learning tons of useful German words, like chicken, pincushion, baggage claim, and shell. She's been learning english words like goosebump, mud, haunted house, and awkward. Oh, and the sport of baseball. Its a win-win situation!

sorry if I'm rambling there, but lots of stuff has been happening recently-like an earthquake, and an impending cat. 2 hurricane, no big deal, you know. In fact, we may even have a tornado warning, and then maybe some mudslides and ice storms. I wouldn't be surprised.

hey guys! guess who's back after a little hiatus...?

yepp, that's right, me and my blogger project. I've got three (three!) pictures to show ya today.....

These are, in order from top to bottom, Lily of LLYMLRS, Jos of my pretty pink journal, and Ellie Jane of observations through the looking glass. Once again, huge differences between the pictures, from color contrasts to styles. I think it's funny how different each piece turns out. Anyways, you've probably heard of the gorrgous Lily, who's blog is just INSANELY successful, but chances are you haven't heard of jos or Ellie. Jos has a great blog chock full of inspirational photos, and Ellie's is just really cool and quirky, and reminds me of british things and Florence and the Machine. I'm really loving Ellie's pic especially, except for my epic fail on the skin tone shadowy thing, but ohh well, at least there's no awkward hands today ;/

I feel like I haven't blogged in ages, so here's what's been going on in my life:

I finished my babysitting job last week. That means I no longer have to get up early and ride my bike across town three days a week, and most importantly, no more almost hitting woodland creatures/looking nasty because, no matter how hard I try, I never look like the girls on the bikes in the Sartorialist.
I also was in Boston on Monday and Wednesday for college tours.(no camera, had to stay focused.) I saw MassArt, and and fell in love with Suffolk, and its AHMAZING dorms.
Went to Zara and bought myself pants with suspenders (appropriatley christened the Holden Caulfield pants) and this amazingawesomebeautiful jacket that I wouldn't take off in the dressing room. I think the attendent thought I was crazy, but after you see this, I swear, you will understand.
My summer work (wahhh) is still unfinished. I've been doing a lot of laying in bed with my kitty.
I rearranged my room last weekend, and our exchange student is coming on Monday. I'm seriously so so excited.

I went into Boston with my friends M and T on Saturday, and it was a totally spur of the moment thing....the best kind. We took the T (subway) in with every single teenager from the area...turns out there was, in addition to a Sox game, a MacMiller free concert. The whole day was spent wandering aimlessly around Boston, eating gelato and some of the best pizza ever (rivaling only Rome), and laying in public parks. My friends were pretty annoyed with me by the end of the day, because I kept stopping to take pictures, but I thought they turned out well, although I enjoy photoshop actions waaayyyyy too much. I love the city so much, and I wish I lived there-every time I get on the train home, a little piece of me sighs tiredly and prepares myself for the suburbs......

These two are Laura, of Blorange Dice, and Ashley, of Two Eyes in the Mirror.(ahh! laura ashley!) For both of these girlys, choosing an image to use was just so hard to do, because they take such great pictures! I feel like they're both contrasting, as Laura's is very warm tones, and Ashley's is cooler tones.

With every picture comes its own challenges. For example, one of last week's girls started out looking a bit like Gary Bertier, from Remember the Titans. (Needless to say, that was changed quickly)

This week's challenges included the awkward hand of death....I HATE drawing hands, and so I struggled with it ***sorry Laura for your hand's awkwardness***, and the fact that halfway through Ashley's picture, I realized that my suspicions were correct; it was indeed not watercolor paper, which meant that I had to be super careful. Still, I'm actually extremely happy with how this week's pictures came out :)

hey guys! quick update to say that I've got myself a twitter!

I'm pretty clueless as to use it, so all I know is if you follow me, I'll follow you :) clickety click here to see. It seems pretty cool, and I love being able to keep up with everyone this way....

also, I'm in the process of changing my profile name to shay from agent 0017. I usually use this when different accounts ask for a name as its my nickname. Recently a lot of people have been confused as to if I'm Izzy or agent 0017. Izzy is actually a friend of mine who contributes from time to time (but not nearly enough), and actually, the pics below are from her party. Right now, my profile is shay/agent 0017, and I'm hoping to gradually phase it out. confused? yeah, me too ;)

hey darlings!

sorry for the long gap between posts, but I got grounded :( me and Izzy went driving around town.......too bad Izzy's not legal yet.* All I can say is, I think I'll keep the rebelling to dyeing my hair and listening to loud music; my parents are excellent at grounding.

*(in mass, after you get your license, you have to wait six months before you can drive anyone under 21 who's not part of your immediate family)

hey darlings!

I'm sad to report that this is not a blogger project thursday :( Time got away from me, and I just wasn't feeling it. Here's what's been going on in my life though!

1. My uncle got married last Saturday. It was a small wedding at a family friend's house, but their yard was beautiful and it was lots of fun (and totally worth the twenty six mosquito bites it cost me....)

2. The fourth of July was on Monday...not the best fourth, but I did get to meet up with one of my closest friends and see her new doggie!

3. I dyed part of my hair purple....finally! It kind of gets lost in my hair, though. I'm thinking of dip dying it, like Aimee did here, but I don't know if my hair's long enough..

4. My family found out that we're hosting a German exchange student for next year..!!! I'm so excited for K to come in August. It's a good thing that she speaks english, because my German is limited to five words; Thank you, Welcome, Do you speak German (which I don't, ergo, useless), Mayor, and Baggage Claim. (don't ask) The other day, Izzy and I ran around taking pics of our town to send to her :)

phew! annnyways, onto even more exciting news....

ok,I should probably give some background to the painting....earlier this year in art, I asked my teacher for a canvas-and he gave me this gargantuan monstrosity of a canvas, as a "challenge." I started trying to paint a picture of a girl, with a surrealish background, but after two months I kept getting really frustrated and abandoning it. This idea came to me in the middle of algebra class, where I do some of my best creative thinking (very ironic) After a week of laying in the fetal position in my room for hours with it, its finished and i'm so so so happy with it. Its kind of a statement on my individuality. A lot of people have commented that I look so serious, but I just wanted a look that really stares at you, almost defiantly.

I really thought this outfit a. echoed the color scheme, and b. kind of created an artist sort of image. In all, the natural light coming from my room was perfect too! I didn't mean to write this much, but I'm just in love with these :)

What I love about these is that they're totally different. For the first one's, Izzy's, I really concentrated on the texture in the picture, as appearent in the sharpie details. But for Margaret's, the second one, I really had to focus on the different color contrasts, a challenge because it's black and white. Both came out beautifully-each pic is coming out better and better! check out these lovelies' blogs.....

I've chosen Thursday for my weekly feature (thanks for the idea tegan!), because Thursday is so close to Friday....but not. Kind of like saying "close, but no cigar". Hope I can brighten up your Thursdays and make them just a little closer to Friday....

hope you all are enjoying your summer...for me, summer means late mornings, freaks and geeks reruns, the beach (of course!), lots of reading, and of course freeze pops. I wish it didn't mean work and AP homework, but hey, with all the good, a little bad's alright. what does summer mean to you?

so, my super secret project is going to be a little something i like to call the blogger project. I am going to be creating images based on bloggers that I love and who inspire me. As you can see, I already did three; Tegan, from Tegan on Toast; Aimee, from Peardrops and Polkadots; and Panda, from Studmuffin. All three are gorrgeous girls with great blogs that I read on a daily basis, and you should go check them out. like. now.

we didn't have to wear our uniform today, just the top, because we had an appreciation day/awards ceremony/cookout. However, we're not allowed to wear shorts that are above the knee....or sandals. wahh. we were all a little toasty, to say it simply. but only two more days of school, then religion, english and art exams and then I'M DONE!! WHOOOO! Summer can not come fast enough.

thanks to everyone who commented on my last post.....I think for now, I'm keeping my blog title. when I say, "donewithconformity," I'm done with conforming-for the sake of conformity. In my wise old 17 years, that's what I've seen the most and what I'm sick of, what I strive to get away from here. I'm not going to rant again about it, but simply, everyone is conforming in society,but I think that there's no way to put a person in ONE group, hence the non conformist stuff. But anyways, a lot of you brought up great points and made me think some more :)

My class is reading some essays by Ralph Waldo Emerson, and studying transcendentalism in general. It's brought up a bunch of questions for me,

and today my english teacher brought up a really good point. She showed us this picture:

We talked about how even if you're a "non conformist", in reality you are conforming-you're conforming to the non-conformists. (confusing a little?)

That statement kind of threw me off a little. I mean, I've always been different, and I pride myself on that. But in reality, I am conforming. So am I done conforming? what is conformity?

Conformity-Noun.

correspondence in form, manner, or character : agreementconformity with her beliefs>

: an act or instance of conforming

: action in accordance with some specified standard or authority <conformity to social custom>

Is there any way someone can not conform to the world? I think that everyone's an individual; but not everyone's unique, when looking at the full scope of things. So, you might be unique, in say, your school, but in retrospect, when looking at society in general, you're not unique at all. However, one will always be an individual.

I'm thinking of changing my blog's name. After all, how can I be "donewithconformity" if in reality I'm conforming to the non-conforming?lfa;sdtioueowiuaslkdfj I'm so confused, ya know?

In spite of all of this, I really admire Emerson, and adore his quotes, especially one I found in his essay "self reliance," where he said the words that really sum up my life sometimes:

"to be great is to be misunderstood"

so, what did you guys think? any ideas about the name change?

oh, hey? remember when i went away? like, a month ago? and i was like, oh, I can't wait to post pics....and then i didn't?

Cortona, this large town up on a giant hill, was beautiful. At the very top, there's a church, the church of St. Margherita, and its like a pilgrimage to get up there because its a steep climb.

Florence was very noisy and busy.....we only spent 24 hours there, so I didn't get too much time to really enjoy the splendor, but I did manage to totally wipe out on the streets and make the old italian ladies cluck and fuss and get street grime all up my leg.....saved the gelato though... and let's face it, that's all that matters.

hopefully, I'll be able to track down pics from the rest of the vacation, as well as pics for an outfit post, and also a post dedicated solely to the nuns of Italy.....let's leave it at that for now.

on another note, I was wowed and stunned by the recent feedback! 15 comments awww yeah! I would like to personally hug and thank each one of you :) thanks to blorangedice for following....I lost my first follower this week, but gained a new one, so its all good :D

here's meh prom dress...nothing too fancy, very classy. 'cause, ya know, that's how I roll. It was completely different from what everyone was wearing (jeweltones/sparkles/nastyyy cut outs/crazy poufy ball gowns), and I loved it. :)

mmmmm yep. wellll let's see........had my retreat for next year's ministry class, basically everyone's assigned to a "ministry" that's in charge of spiritual aspects of school life, and mine's the best....basically, our job is to think up the themes/create the artwork for mass. It should be fun, and I can't wait, but so many of the girls were like "I don't know whyyyy I'm hereeeee. I don't want to beeeeeeee innnn this ministryyyyy. it suuuuuucks." (simulated whining.) whatttever.

also, I LOVE catcher in the rye. If you haven't read it/had to read it for school and thought it sucked-read it again. Holden Caulfield, the main character is someone you probably won't like-whiny, complainy, cynically, but, essentially, we're all like him, and deep down, we know it.

errrm, I think that's it. SATs tomorrow, then doing nothing, glorious nothing because I never seem to be home during the week

prom was last night....I'm still floating i think :)

I didn't think it was going to be tons of fun...but the whole experience was awesome. It was dramaless, the music was allright (ish) and my date was a gentleman. We even got a goldfish for a centerpiece! My date named him Winston and smuggled him out at the end. The best moment, no doubt though, was slow dancing to "The Only Exception" by Paramore. It was just perfect.

For after prom, we went to my friends and had a bonfire, and in the morning, we had brunch (mainly bacon though), and just relaxed outside for everrr. It was so calm and peaceful and happy.

lalalala well what was you guy's prom like?/what do you hope it will be like? and whoo royal wedding! I didn't realize how balding Prince William is though :p

this is how we do gangsta in the 'burbs.

took the train into the city, drooled over things in Urban Outfitters, got stopped by a guy with a huge safety pin through his nose who told my friend, "excuse me miss, but you dropped your smile," went on an hour long hunt in search of Paul Revere's house, talked to a fire man named smokey, saw our old English teacher(who know he was married?), yelled "MARCO!" at everyone we saw(and only hoped they yelled back "polo!"), discussed career options with a McDonald's employee, used chopsticks at PF Chang's, paid ridiculous amounts of moola for dessert at a fancy schmancy place, and learned how to Dougie from a complete and total (very cute) stranger. wish i brought my camera, but i was too worried that i'd get distracted taking artsy fartsy shots of falling down buildings. so all i've got is this station wagon i saw in the T parking lot.

thanks all so much for words of encouragement at my time of angstness.....fate smiled on me and gave me a date and dress in the same twenty four hours. life es buena :)

Yesterday, they announced the prom theme (underwater...tres disney channel), but they also announced that our school date forms are due Friday.

Its rediculous! I never pegged myself to be one of those girls...you know, the freaking out, this-is-the-best-day-of-my-life kind of girl with the poufy dress and over hairsprayed 'do. But as prom comes closer and closer, (one month!) I'm fuh-reaking out. majorly. I don't have a dress, and I am nowhere near having a date. Things like pictures, a limo, and tables are constantly on my mind. which is crazy. Like, there's people suffering in Japan, but I find myself thinking about what color my dress is going to be more.

I need a reality check.

earlier, I had a break down in the car on the way home.....it seems like I'm the only person going single. and i'm pretty worried. I mean, I know that its brave of me to go anyways and it will be an exercise in strength, plus a date doesn't define me......but still. Thanks to some chocolate ice cream and the musical stylings of Lady Gaga though (who knows that I'm born a superstar...), I'm pretty calmed down. pretty. But what ever. Its prom! one night out of 365. I'm stressing so much, I ruined a GREAT day (96 on an alg. quiz, started a painting in art, 100 on a huge spanish test.....) it needs to stop.

a couple of you mentioned your confusion of UGGs as well. I thought I'd share a little bit of a story that happened recently to me in regards to UGGs.

I feel the need to mention, before I begin though, about how much I love irony. I'm an irony monster. Irony is something that you can use in daily conversation and pick up, you know? "oh, that's ironic." you never hear anyone say, "oh, that's a hyperbole."

(i don't even know what a hyperbole is)

ANYWAYS.

THE STORY

so, my school did "extreme spirit" week last week. Usually, I'm pretty allergic to school spirit. but the allure of not only wearing my Dr.Seuss-meets-Mexican colors-meets Asian betik Forever 21 $12.5o (dress up day) steal but also my floral jeans (mis matched day) coaxed me into the spirity mood.

ohhh yeahhh.

well, on mis matched day (it was friday.) (STOP MAKING REBECCA BLACK JOKES) people were going crazy wearing different colors and patterns, and it was really amusing. But then i started looking at people's feet, because they were wearing different shoes, and that just seems totally uncomfortable to me. But, I noticed that some girls were wearing two different UGGs.

and i just started laughing.

because it was ironic that they were trying to be "mis matched," yet everyone was doing it, so therefore they were matching.

Also, that's four hundred dollars they'll NEVER get back.

well? did you think it was funny too? or am i crazy?

So today, I had a major epiphany. well, not major. in fact some might call it small. but in reality, its going to affect el blogito. a lot.

I started a blog because I was in love with the idea. it seemed cool! I wanted to put my opinions out there, wanted to show off my art, and, well, i did want to be friends with Tavi and be painted by Danny Roberts. I can't lie.

But what I've recently been doing is just copying other bloggers that i like. It seems that my blog weaves in and out, and doesn't really stick to one style.

I started a blog to be different. Because I'm different. But recently I've just been following others, trying to make others happy so that maybe they'll follow me. Shallow at its shallowest.

I'm trying to start fresh. Like how I blogged, before I got any comments. Just blogging because I loved it.

For now on, this blog will be ME. my style, my personality,my thoughts.(wow, sounds selfish. but i digress) yadda yadda yadda. So here goes. Let me reintroduce myself.

darlings, I'm back!

1.the play is over, so, I'm home again! Seriously, between school, stage crew, and work, I didn't get home until anywhere from 8 30 to 11....every. day. (I really don't love school enough to stay from 2 05 until 11. bleh.) Still, the play was a great success! it was awesome and I'm blessed to be part of such a great group of people. People really don't understand the magnitude of what has to go on backstage for a play to happen...so all you actors and actresses, go do me a favor and hug your prop people, cause we work hard :)

Today is my one year anniversary for my blog!

I seriously can't believe it. A year ago, on a whim, I built a blog, and just started posted random things that popped into my head. I never EVER expected anyone to actually read it....much less follow it. In the beginning, I had no idea what I was doing, but (especially in the last few months) I've figured it out.

When I look back, I seem so much younger.....a lot of things have changed in a year. I moved, got a job, got my driving permit, started junior year, discovered Arcade Fire, lost some friends, gained some new ones, went to semi......you get the picture!I feel like a completely different person.

I want to thank each and every one of my followers, too.......all 26 of you! You seriously mean the world to me....... If there's any new readers out there, check out the sidebar and visit their amazing sites. (I'm more than half way to my goal of 50 followers :D)

I feel awful for not posting something very interesting....the pictures above are all Alice in Wonderland-esque, which I'm using as a concept for an art project on the contrast between dreams and reality. Its going to take 3498375094854309 years to do.....between that, work, and stage crew (we're doing fiddler on the roof, which requires a house, yes a house! on stage...) I'm not around much.

I'm overwhelmed by the amount of comments recieved earlier, I would like to hug each and every one of you :D I'm pretty sure that I replied to all......? Super sorry if I didn't.

I'm so excited because FINALLY A STYLISH WAY TO WEAR MY STAR WARS SHIRT.

I love star wars. let's face it.....I'mageek. If I had a Harry potter shirt, or maybe a monty python one? I think my life might be complete.

been buying loads of clothes with my christmas gift cards of late, getting ready for a trip to Italy soon! arrrrg arrg arrg so excited!

hey everyone!

just want to first say thank you to all the lovely comments on my heathers and pigeon detectives post :) (7 and 8 comments, respectively!)

So what fashionista doesn't have a couple of old dresses stashed away in the back of her closet? Yes, you know what I'm talking about. Maybe they're even boring old dresses that you ran out to buy for that occasion, and now they're...well....you don't exactly have an occasion for them (come on, stop sputtering. I know ya got them.)

My friend Izzy, (who guest writes occasionally on my blog) has actually started her own organization, called Gigi's closet, where she's collecting old semi/homecoming/prom/any formal dresses to give to girls who otherwise won't be able to go to prom. In this economy, and with the price of dresses and prom tickets sky high, its easy to imagine being too short on money to go to something that's a huge moment in anyone's life.

So, if anyone's got a dress out there....you can check out her organization's blog, gigi's closet, and if you'd like to donate, please contact me through my email, or by posting on her blog, tumblr, facebook, or twitter page. (even if you just like the facebook page, that's getting the organization's name out there).

And obviously, if you can't, I highly recommend looking into an organization that's similar somewhere near you! The dress that you wore once could make a girl's life, basically; it could help her go to prom.

The Pigeon Detectives seriously, (I'm going to sound dramatic here) changed my life. One article in April 2009 Teen Vogue propelled me from the top forty hits to the pigeon detectives, Ladyhawke, and Florence and the Machine; five songs that I played over and over on my ipod, the first signs of stepping out of the suburban conformity box. those songs led to an appreciation for being different.

awwwww, i'm getting sentimental :O

well, anyways, the pigeon detectives are releasing their new album on April 8 (!!!)

hopefully, their come touring to the US.....believe it or not, I've never been to a concert, despite my obsession with music, and I really hope the first concert i go to will be them, cause it will be full circle :) (and i can steal those awesome brogues matt is wearing in the mirror pic.....)
